Anti-inflammatory Activity of Alkaloidal Fraction of Liquorice

Abstract
During the past decade, studies of the pharmacology and physiology of liquorice have been, substantial and it is now widely accepted that liquorice extract may be given successfully in the treatment of peptic ulcer and Addison¢¥s disease and one of its constituents is used as anti-inflammatory agent.
We obtained an alkaloidal fraction from liquorice extract by means of its solubility to various solvent and studied granulation inhibiting activity on egg yolk sac.
The alkaloidal fraction of liquorice extract significantly inhibits the formation of granulation tissue as well as hydrocortisone and glycyrrhetic acid.
